The Commander is a version of Knight who concentrates on support.  He makes others better, he heals, and nullifies level drain.  He inspires and encourages and generally acts as the center of his team's plan.

Rise the Fallen (7th): The Knight can use his knight's Heal on a downed ally within 30 feet.  5 second meditation.  Heals 3 points per point expended (min 3) and the Commander can spend points equal to his level.  Target must be apparently unconscious.
Commanding Inspiration (8th):  The Commander can free an ally from any LI effect with a duration.  He must touch the ally for 5 seconds while meditating, but at the end, the LI effect will be prematurely ended.

I also tried to find a way to do Lead by Example, where the Commander would attack an individual and others would get a bonus to do the same thing... but every formulation ended up too complex or impossible to communicate.

Any concern that Rise the Fallen is better than Ranged Heal?

One way to kind of hack the Lead by Example would be like this:

Lead by Example: The knight hits a target or the target's equipment and calls "Lead by Example. Hit this enemy!" If an ally of the knight engages that target in melee combat or damages the target with a ranged attack, the Knight gets to add XX points of damage to his next successful strike against that opponent. If the knight stops being in melee combat with that target before an ally gets involved, the ability does not work.

The idea is that the extra damage you are looking for gets delivered by the Knight. It isn't as nice as having others get a bonus, but it is at least possible to track it.

My thought on Rise the Fallen is that its ok that its better because it can only be used if the person is already down.  Maybe not.  Drop to 2 per point maybe?

I think the Lead by Example example that you lead with is definitely on track, but I think as is it is still complicated enough that it might be rough in combat.

Lead by Example is mostly an e+spell + Wrath. More or less. You call it on a target and allies get to add +X damage stacking as LI for the combat, easy.
It's just as easy as doing double subtraction combat math with multiple independent damage pools. ;)


OR No Defense versus Supernatural maybe. Or as an alternate SAS.

How about Champion: 9th: Designated target can use any damaging enhancing effect from the Knights own point pool. So you can give your Fighter\Mage\whoever an Avenging Blow, No Defense Blow, Killing Attack Versus Supernatural, etc.

Stand Fast 10th:
(lamest SAS name ev4r beeteedubz, plz 2 b improving) Allies of the knight in a 10' radius of the Knight get an additional 'free' point on any healing SAS cast. Point meaning casting cost, not effect,so 2pts normally but 3pts for a Cure Serious. The knight must remain immobile for the duration of the SAS.

Bolster:6th: Knight may call Bolster as an immediate counter to a Knockdown on any target within a 10' radius of them. Knight may not use the SAS on there own darned self.

Rousing Speech: 10th: Following 5 minutes of uninterrupted casting time which must be roleplayed as a continuous dialog to a group of no more than 30 individuals who must be within 50ft of the Knight for the entire casting time and additionally must not be engaged in any other activities for the entire casting time all targets of the SAS gain +X damage, stacking as LI, until the next combat.

Also I think stacking damage in the LI category (as an idea) is both totally awesome and totally broken AND extremely fitting for this archetype. Big smile

There are a bunch of other SAS that seem cool but I think they'd be mostly used in situations where the Commander type is, you know, commanding, a larger group of lower level individuals. Since that never really happens much in IFGS I figure I can skip 'em.

Also the typical situations in which they do occur involve a lot of NPCs and while the odds of this particular specialization showing up in any random high-level game involving a mass combat with larger numbers of low level NPCs being commanded by PCs I'd sure hate to destroy some poor GDs Final Fight With The BBG with some random SAS that would exist almost solely for that purpose. Similarly, giving the specialization an SAS they can't ever really use seems lame.
