After last year's experience, I made a few notes about some things we could do this year that would make it a smoother, more profitable, and less painful experience for all involved.

We need a weapon peg board or some way to organize the weapons that isn’t a haphazard pile. It was very disorganized and the people who were fighting first had to grab weapons away from people at the back of the line that were fighting each other when they weren't supposed to be. It was like herding cats. Angry, angry cats.

Multiple bean bag toss targets for the little kids. And a bag of little prizes for them.

Getting the spot marked on the event map

Business cards

1000 quarter page flyers-keep the logo but make the info more prominent

Either multiple or one really good, large “Fight the Knight” signage in front of our booth.

Arbor thingy with “Fight the Knight” sign across the top for the entrance to the arena. The line was very disorganized and some customers got kinda angry at us because there were people cutting in front of each other.

Manned stations:

-2 front table attendants to answer questions about the organization.

-2 workbench attendants to answer questions and do demonstrations regarding how weapons are made.

-1 dedicated fight officiate.

-1 line Shepard to keep the line in order and keep people from taking off with chapter weapons.

-1 bean bag toss attendant.

-3-5 knights so we have enough to rotate out and give people a chance to take a rest. We got our butts thoroughly kicked because we were short on fighters.

-Wandering criers (friars?) to call out our events to the crowds and get more traffic headed our way.

This should be simple.  The chapter weapons (and the ones we got from WI) are designed to hang by the pommel from a rack.  We just need to make said racks.

Multiple bean bag toss targets for the little kids. And a bag of little prizes for them.

The bag of prizes is easy.  The targets need artistic ability.  Anyone up for it?

I've mentioned this to the organizers.  I'll mention it again just to be sure.

Business cards

Yes, would anyone like to work on this?  The chapter in general should have these and give them out to members to have as well.

Agree, who would like to do these up?  We just need it in a word doc or something and then can handle the printing. (I have a color laser printer now)

Does anyone know a good sign maker?  This is something I think we could invest in a little since we'll reuse it.

Arbor would be nice, but even just a set of poles and ropes would work.  T-Posts or wood stakes around the fighting area with an entrance and roped line should help with crowd control.

I agree on all points.

A few more ideas:

Get the roll tickets to hand out when collecting money.  The person then hands the ticket to the the gate keeper to go in and fight.  This allows us to have the money taker in a different (or multiple) location than the fighting.  Also no confusion about who has and has not paid.  We could offer things like multi-ticket discounts.

Get those Tyvek wrist bands and offer an all day pass.

If we use double roll tickets we could also have a raffle.

Alright, just heard back from Ann and we do in fact have the same sand pits we did last year even though is was a mix up with the pirate folks.  We are also clear to have a big tent is we want, but we do have to stay within the sand pits.

Can any one who was there last year run by and get me measurements for the sand pit area?
